The chakra system is an ancient framework that governs numerous processes in our lives on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Understanding the chakras can help you live a healthier, more harmonious and balanced life.
The Heart Chakra
The heart chakra, also known as Anahata, is the seat of love of all kinds. This chakra is all about being connected to yourself and to others, cultivating love, compassion, generosity, gratitude and granting forgiveness. Love is a unifying force and the most fundamental energy of the universe and the heart chakra is the space where we experience connection and integration of all entities in our life.
When the heart chakra is balanced, we love and respect ourselves and other beings on Earth. We feel connected to the rest of the universe and have a natural bond with other elements in it. We act based on love and compassion, as opposed to judgement, resentment, hatred or jealousy. Forgiveness comes naturally as we are able to see the good in another person and look beyond our own hurt and suffering.
Disorders of the heart chakra show in a major disconnect with ourselves and the world. We have difficulty giving and receiving love, are out of touch with who we are as well as our higher purpose. A lack of ability to forgive is a common emotional disorder of the heart chakra – unwillingness to go past our hurt or pain may be used as a protective strategy and a source of a subconscious emotional gain (e.g. pride, a sense of superiority).
Diseases associated with this chakra are concentrated around the area of the heart and respiratory system. Coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, palpitations, circulation issues, blood pressure problems, heart failure, panic attacks, asthma, allergies, breathing problems as well as respiratory infections, pneumonia and lung and breast cancer are just some of the most common physical conditions associated with disorders in the fourth chakra.
